Completing the National Archives self-assessment tool gives a Local Authority a clear idea of whether their information policies comply to the Lord Chancellor’s Code of Practice, however you may need some help in completing that assessment! Records Management Code automated support tool. This free full-day workshop will help you through both of these processes so that you use your records management time more effectively and you gain a greater understanding of your council’s retention policy.
You will be supported to:
- Help create a business case for a retention schedule with risks and benefits
- Explore what a retention schedule contains and how, using the National Archives’s self-assessment toolkit requirements, to create a retention schedule using information audits and the LG Inform Plus tools & content based on the powers and duties assigned to public authorities including how standard lists can assist
- Explore the different methods of keeping a retention schedule up to date
This event is free but is only open to councillors and officers from English local authorities and fire and rescue services. Attendees must have registered themselves with esd-toolkit/LG Inform Plus in advance of the session. Existing esd-toolkit registered users should use their existing user name (email address) and password. New users should register here for a new account with the system
Limited places are available on a first-come, first-served basis so don’t delay – preference is given to LG Inform Plus subscribing organisations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A fee of £100 will be charged to the booking organisation per person in the event that cancellations are received within 7 days of the event and places cannot be filled and in the case where attendees as booked do not turn up on the day of the event. Cancellations will only be considered in writing/email. No telephoned or verbal cancellation will be accepted and will be treated as a ‘no show’ with penalties.
