Internet of Things video series: “Will the public trust us to look after their data?”

The advantages of Internet of Things enabled systems are well documented. In this five-minute video however, “in the enthusiasm about Internet of Things and digital” Creese outlines the risks. While he ackowledges that it offers an opportunity to digitally transform how to do business and save money, the “make or break” factor will be securing public trust. He details the challenges related to the IT and big data aspects, what we need to do to help society gain control over it and “protect ourselves in future”.



Event: Local Digital Futures Thought Leadership briefing

The Local Digital Futures Thought Leaders debate held last week in London brought together some of the leading lights in central and local government, suppliers and research bodies to discuss implementation of ‘Internet of Things’ systems to improve public services. The discussion focused on how the technology could reduce the pressure on local authority services and explored the barriers to take up, following on from a day-long, free event aimed at local government service managers and decision makers.
