Time for a Really Useful culture shift at your council?

Ever wondered how to persuade people in your council of the importance of a user-friendly website? An internal Really Useful Day might be the answer.

In December, Liz Shellard, Web Manager at the City and County of Swansea, ran an internal Really Useful Day in Swansea. This is what she had to say about it:

“Having attended a Really Useful Day about user journeys last August, we thought it would be a good idea to get our web editors to do the same exercises.

“Local Direct helped us by providing an agenda and sets of user journeys from various councils, each with a good, bad and middling example. We printed these out and also printed our own Swansea.gov.uk user journeys.

“We ran two sessions of two hours each, which gave enough time to look at the user journeys and also create the ‘ideal’ user journey for each scenario.

“The sessions were well received by the web editors, with many positive comments about how they wanted to look at their own areas of the current website with fresh eyes. This was just what we were hoping to get from the workshops, so it was well worth the time to run them!”

If you think this might be for you, get in touch with the Really Useful team at Local Direct for astep-by-step guide and lots of resources to help you run your own day.
